AquaRio (Marine Aquarium of Rio de Janeiro) is a marine aquarium in the Gamboa neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro's port zone, Brazil, opened on 31 October 2016. With a constructed area of about 26,000 square meters, it holds 28 tanks across five floors containing roughly 4.5 million liters of salt water and about 8,000 animals of 350 species. Regarded as the largest marine aquarium in South America, it is known for a tunnel through its main ocean tank and its shark exhibits.
