Squirrel Villageぎふ金華山リス村

Opened in 1965 (Showa 40) as Japan's first squirrel village. Wild Formosan squirrels from Mt. Kinka were tamed and bred here, and you can watch them living freely inside an enclosure in front of the summit ropeway station. A special sheet-metal fence called a "shinobi-gaeshi" keeps the squirrels from escaping.
