Paignton Zoo is an 80-acre (32 ha) zoo in Paignton, Devon, in south-west England, opened in 1923 as one of Britain's older zoos. It keeps around 189 species and more than 1,800 animals alongside some 1,600 species of plant, functioning as a combined zoological and botanical garden. It focuses on breeding endangered species such as the Sumatran tiger and western lowland gorilla.
