Records

A female born October 19, 2021. She came to Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens from Izu Shaboten Zoo on October 25, 2022, and was exhibited in the capybara house in the North Garden. Right after arriving she was unsettled in her new surroundings and tended to hide in her room or in the water, but she gradually began showing her lively, adorable side.

She was popular with visitors for her endearing way of eating and her charm, but she fell ill and died of 'chronic digestive insufficiency' on December 23, 2023, at the age of 2. With Rerako's death, Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens was temporarily left without a capybara to see.
