Born July 18, 2013, at Nishiyama Zoo to father Yanyan and mother Kirari. His name was inspired by the starry sky, drawing on the 'shining' image of his mother's name, Kirari. His favorite food is carrots, and the zoo's profile page says that as a cub he was a clingy little one who followed his mother Kirari everywhere, but that he has grown up strong.

As one of the few Nishiyama-born red pandas still at the zoo, he is listed on the official 'Red Panda Family' page as one of the nine currently in its care. He is the brother of Motchi, born in 2015 to the same parents, Yanyan and Kirari. Nishiyama Zoo has been breeding red pandas since 1985, and Light, born in 2013, is part of that in-house breeding lineage. His profile page also mentions his fondness for carrots.
