A female who came to Shunan's Tokuyama Zoo from Tokushima Zoo. Her name was chosen by in-park and X (formerly Twitter) voting held from July 16 to 21, 2025; 'Awa' (written with the character for the old Awa Province) won with a combined 2,284 votes, beating 'Chin' (rare) and 'Mare' (uncommon).
She was popular for cuddling up with the male Sawa, and the zoo's announcement of Sawa's death in June 2026 also mentioned their bond.
