Records
Born August 17, 2018, at Ocean Park Hong Kong. She was brought to Kaiyukan in November 2021 with her younger sister Senti for breeding.
An observation log from May 27, 2026, described her carefully inspecting the newly installed steps in the backup-room pool, then resting drowsily on the upper level hugging a piece of wood.
The Asian small-clawed otter is the smallest species in the otter family, found in Southeast Asia, with small claws on the tips of its toes. Average lifespan in captivity is said to be around 10 years. Ocean Park Hong Kong has a breeding track record, and the transfer to Kaiyukan was part of an animal exchange aimed at diversifying bloodlines in Japan.
Several Asian small-clawed otters are exhibited together in Kaiyukan's 'Japan Forest' area, and Miu has been observed as an individual who responds actively to newly installed facilities.
