Opened on 23 May 1931, it houses around 10,000 animals across 245+ species and is the UK's largest zoo. Its landmark is the giant Whipsnade White Lion hill figure carved into the Dunstable Downs, and it ranks among Europe's largest wildlife conservation parks.
