Royal Burgers' Zoo, founded in Arnhem by Johan Burgers in 1913, is a roughly 45-hectare zoo that keeps more than 10,000 animals across over 500 species. It is best known for its large immersive ecodisplays that recreate whole ecosystems, including the indoor rainforest Bush, the Desert, the Ocean with a coral reef and an 8-million-litre aquarium, and one of the largest indoor mangroves in the world. It ranks among the leading zoos in the Netherlands.
