Records
Born July 5, 2022, at Asahikawa's Asahiyama Zoo as one of a pair of twins (a female) to mother Yuyu and father Puaru. Her name, 'Chenchen,' is written by doubling the kanji for madder red (akane), while her twin brother was named Jinjin after the violet (sumire).
For breeding, she underwent export quarantine at the zoo from early February 2026, left Asahiyama Zoo on the morning of March 16, and arrived at Taipei Zoo in Taiwan that night. The move was decided on the advice of the international studbook coordinator for red pandas with the cooperation of the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums (JAZA), and she was reported to be going on display after about a month of quarantine and acclimation. Her arrival in Taipei was covered by Taiwanese media, including Focus Taiwan (CNA). She was 3 years old at the time of the move.
