Records
Born July 5, 2022, at Asahikawa's Asahiyama Zoo as one of a pair of twins (a male) to mother Yuyu and father Puaru. It was the second litter for the Yuyu and Puaru pair; he was raised in the nest box in his mother's sleeping quarters, well looked after by 'veteran mom' Yuyu, and the zoo announced that he would go on display around autumn. The birth announcement was published on July 9, 2022, with an update on how mother and cubs were doing.
His name was chosen based on 'flower names,' 'the sound and ease of calling,' and 'the impression of his face,' and became 'Jinjin,' written by doubling the kanji for violet (sumire). His twin sister Chenchen moved to Taipei Zoo in Taiwan in March 2026 for breeding. The display was announced to begin around autumn. His name is read 'Jinjin.'
