Toukyou Toritsu Ooshima Kouen東京都立大島公園

A zoo inside Tokyo Metropolitan Oshima Park in Oshima Town, Tokyo. Its exhibits make use of Izu Oshima's natural landscape, including lava terrain from past eruptions and native camellia and Castanopsis forests. The zoo keeps about 60 species and 400 animals, including one of Japan's largest group exhibits of Barbary sheep and ring-tailed lemurs and red pandas that can be observed up close. It is operated by the Tokyo Zoological Park Society.

  1. Monkey Island

    A mixed exhibit of ring-tailed lemurs and Barbary sheep in an enclosure built on natural lava. Both are kept in the largest numbers in Japan (as of the end of fiscal 2025). The roughly 60 m Monkey Island Bridge in the center offers views from various angles. Source

    A large walk-in bird cage enclosing a section of Oshima's natural forest. Exhibits include Japanese wood pigeons, mandarin ducks, flamingos, and parma wallabies. Source

  3. Nakayoshi Plaza and Nakayoshi Farm

    Watch red pandas from below across a catwalk, pet guinea pigs, and feed leafy vegetables to goats and donkeys. Source

  4. Reeves's muntjac and peregrine falcon exhibits

    The zoo keeps and breeds Reeves's muntjac, a designated invasive alien species now feral on Oshima, as well as the Japanese serow (a Special Natural Monument) and peregrine falcons. Source
