Born June 23, 2006, at Ichikawa Zoo, she arrived at Nishiyama Zoo on March 20, 2008. After giving birth to five cubs at Nishiyama, she moved to Kobe's Oji Zoo in 2014, where she raised three more, and returned to Nishiyama Zoo on February 20, 2019, after five years away. Her profile page indicates that, counting the five from her first stint at Nishiyama and the three at Oji Zoo, she has raised eight cubs in all.
The zoo's profile page describes her as breezy and unhurried, large-bodied and highly athletic, and a real beauty. She escaped from the moat in 2008, and her daughter Tiara, born at Oji Zoo, likewise leapt out of the moat two days after arriving; the profile page notes that mother and daughter both have an 'escape record' to their athletic credit.
She passed away on the night of May 21, 2026, at the age of 19. The zoo announced that she had weakened as age-related decline in gastrointestinal function reduced her appetite and strength. It was about a month before her 20th birthday. In June that year the zoo held a 'Thank You, Minfa' photo exhibition, where visitors said their goodbyes.
