Timeline
Records
Born August 31, 2023, at Tobu Zoo to mother Matsu and father Chelsea. It was the zoo's first capybara birth in nine years. The sex was undetermined at the time of the announcement. After birth, the pup was kept with its mother in a small room within the exhibit, where it grew to the point of running energetically around the room and began eating cabbage.
Public viewing began on September 16, 2023, in the Squirrel Monkey Paradise. Because rodents grow quickly and the window for seeing them small is short, the exhibit drew large crowds in its early days.
