SENDAI UMINO-MORI AQUARIUM仙台うみの杜水族館

An aquarium in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, run by the Yokohama Hakkeijima group. Highlights include a large tank recreating the rich Sanriku sea, exhibits of distinctive creatures from around the world, and dolphin, sea lion, and bird performances in the Tohoku region's largest stadium (seating about 1,000). It has about 100 tanks with a total water volume of about 3,000 tons.

Access

About 15 minutes on foot from Nakanosakae Station on the JR Senseki Line, or take the Miyako Bus "Sendai Uminomori Suizokukan Line" from Nakanosakae Station (adults ¥200 one way). From Sendai Airport, the Access Line reaches JR Sendai Station in about 25 minutes, then about 18 minutes to Nakanosakae Station. By car, just off the Sendai-Ko Interchange on the Sendai-Tobu Road, or about 20 minutes from the Sendai-Minami Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. Source
