Records

Born November 26, 2003, at Moscow Zoo in Russia, he was brought to Oga Aquarium GAO on June 7, 2005. He was GAO's first polar bear since its opening, and public viewing began on June 17. On July 30 that year, the name 'Gota' was chosen from 3,417 entries.

He was paired for breeding with Kurumi, who arrived from Kushiro Zoo on April 26, 2011, and on December 4, 2012, the female Milk was born, GAO's first successful breeding. Kurumi died on January 28, 2018.

In March 2024, Momo was brought in from Hamamatsu Zoo as his new breeding partner. On December 4, 2025, a male cub was born to him and Momo, and on April 25, 2026, it was named 'Momota.' Gota is a symbol of Oga Aquarium, known for his huge body of more than 450 kilograms and his playful personality.
