Records
Born December 4, 2025, at Oga Aquarium GAO to father Gota and mother Momo. Two cubs were initially confirmed, but one was judged to have most likely died shortly after birth. His name was decided through a two-stage public process: a first round of entries from March 14 to 22, 2026, followed by a runoff vote held at the aquarium.
Display with his mother began on April 11, 2026, and his name 'Momota' was announced on April 25, 2026. The keeper staff's blog notes that he was also nicknamed 'the Prince.'
A naming ceremony was held on April 25, 2026, and together with the public display of mother and cub, it drew a large crowd of visitors. His father Gota is the symbol of Oga Aquarium, and his mother Momo was born at Hamamatsu Zoo and carries Tennoji Zoo bloodlines, so Momota can be seen as a cub born from the linked breeding plans of several zoos and aquariums.
