ANIMAL FOREST海の中道海浜公園動物の森

An open natural zoo with almost no cages, where about 50 species and 500 animals, including kangaroos, capybaras, Bolivian squirrel monkeys, and flamingos, live in families and groups. It opened in 1981 as a place to learn about the preciousness of life and animal ecology through petting and feeding experiences.

Access

Right by Uminonakamichi Station on the JR Kashii Line (Wonder World side), or about 10 minutes on foot from Saitozaki Station (Great Lawn side). Nishitetsu bus routes 25A and 25I are also available. By Fukuoka municipal ferry or the Uminaka Line high-speed boat, about 10 minutes on foot from the Saitozaki ferry landing to the West Entrance. The park has several parking lots; the closest to Animal Forest are the West Entrance and the West Parking Lot. Source

Hours and Admission

HoursMarch 1–October 31: 9:30–17:30; November 1–end of February: 9:30–17:00 (entry until one hour before closing). Animal Forest can be used until 30 minutes before the park closes. Closed December 31, January 1, and designated periods in winter (check the official site for details). Source
AdmissionAnimal Forest is included in admission to Uminonakamichi Seaside Park; no extra charge. Park admission: adults (15 and over) ¥450, seniors (65 and over) ¥210, junior high students and younger free (cash only). Feeding experience ¥100 per portion. Source

Is there an extra charge to enter Animal Forest?
No. Animal Forest is included in admission to Uminonakamichi Seaside Park. Petting is free; feeding is ¥100 per portion. Source
