Records
A male beluga born August 3, 2009, at Shimane Aquarium AQUAS. His mother was Arya, who had been kept since the aquarium opened and was the first to perform the 'bubble ring,' and his younger sister is Mirya, born in 2014. As of April 2025 he had reached about 400 cm in length; he is introduced as the ace of AQUAS, curious and mischievous yet with a seriousness inherited from his father. From around March 22, 2026, he stopped eating and showed abnormal behavior, and from March 25 he underwent examinations and treatment in the pool. His appetite recovered from April 23 onward, and by early May his body temperature had returned to near normal. After public training sessions to confirm his recovery, beluga performances resumed at the end of June.
The public training sessions to confirm his recovery began on May 13, 2026, and from June 20 performances were scheduled five times a day on weekends. AQUAS keeps several belugas split between the performance pool in the main building and the breeding pool in the annex.
