The Aldabra giant tortoise is endemic to the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, where a protected population of roughly 100,000 individuals remains one of the largest concentrations of giant tortoises on Earth. It grazes on grasses, leaves, and woody plant stems, using its long neck to browse low tree branches, and is among the longest-lived animals known, with some individuals thought to exceed 200 years of age. It is currently assessed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
