Hirakawa Zoo鹿児島市平川動物公園

A zoo run by Kagoshima City, keeping 827 animals of 125 species. The Africa section spreads out against a panoramic backdrop of Sakurajima and Kinko Bay, and the zoo has used exhibits that make the most of the natural setting since it opened. Known as a lush, green zoo with a southern feel, it even has a foot bath from which you can view the animals and Sakurajima. It also works with research institutions on wildlife research and on conservation of rare species such as the Lidth's jay.

Access
