Records

A female from Iceland, brought to Japan in 1988. She is the oldest orca kept in Japan (an estimated 40 years old as of 2026), has given birth to five calves, and every other orca currently kept in Japan is her descendant.

After giving birth to Rabi, Lala, and Ran at Kamogawa Sea World with her mate Bingo, she moved to the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, where she gave birth to her fifth calf, Rin, at 10:24 a.m. on November 13, 2012.

Her mate Bingo died at the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium on August 2, 2014, after being treated for lung inflammation (estimated age 32).

Stella herself was transferred from the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium to Kobe Suma Sea World on March 29, 2024, where she was reunited with her daughter Ran, who had moved there earlier, after more than eight years apart.

At Kobe Suma Sea World she performs dynamic jumps and in-water routines in sync with her trainers alongside her daughter Ran, and the mother-daughter performance is a highlight.
