Records
Born November 18, 2024, at Yokohama Zoological Gardens Zoorasia to father Gogo and mother Itchan. Keeper staff confirmed the birth on camera footage. He was reported as the cub born after his Tennoji-born mother Itchan bred successfully at her new home, Zoorasia.
His name was decided as 'Rai' in April 2025, and public viewing with his mother Itchan began on May 14, 2025. He is described as racing energetically around the exhibit on his small frame, diving into the pool and scrambling up rocks, then returning to his mother's side to rest.
His father Gogo died at Zoorasia on February 8, 2026, so Rai lost his father early. He was Gogo's third cub, after Hochan at Tennoji Zoo and Momo at Oga Aquarium, making Rai the youngest.
