Records
Born at 12:14 a.m. on January 12, 2022, to mother Kiwa and father Asahi. She was hand-reared and began practicing in the exhibit tank in March.
By her public debut on April 23, 2022, she had grown to 1,300 g and was lively and energetic. She was named 'Hana' (nose) because the large pink patch on the tip of her nose makes her easy for visitors to recognize.
In her earliest days she was hand-reared, with keeper staff handling daily weight checks and feedings. Kiwa and Asahi went on to have several more pups, and Hana stands as the first successful Asian small-clawed otter birth at Toba Aquarium.
She is exhibited in the same tank in the L Zone 'Water Corridor' as her later-born siblings Soboro, Okaka, Konbu, Ren, and Tsukushi.
