Tochigi Nakagawa Aquatic Park栃木県なかがわ水遊園

One of Japan's few aquariums devoted to freshwater fish, centered on species of the Naka River basin. Alongside large exhibits such as the Amazon tank, it has hands-on facilities including a craft workshop, a tasting workshop, a fish research lab, and a fishing pond. It marked its 25th anniversary in 2026.

Access

25 km (about 45 minutes) via National Route 400 from the Nishi-Nasuno-Shiobara IC, about 40 minutes from the Yaita IC, or about 70 minutes from the Utsunomiya IC. By public transportation, about 40 minutes by Kanto Bus from Nishi-Nasuno Station on the JR Utsunomiya Line to Tajuku, then 5 minutes on foot. Free parking for 700 vehicles. Source

HoursThe park is open 9:30–17:00 and the aquarium 9:30–16:30 (entry until 30 minutes before closing). Closed on Mondays (the following day if Monday is a holiday), the 4th Thursday of each month (open if a holiday), and January 25–29. Open every day during Golden Week, summer, and the New Year holidays. Source
AdmissionAdults (high school and up) ¥900; children (elementary and junior high) ¥300; preschoolers free. Groups (20 or more): adults ¥700, children ¥200. Annual pass: adults ¥2,500, children ¥1,000. Free for holders of a disability certificate, and for elementary and junior high students on the 3rd Sunday of each month. Cashless payment accepted. Source
