Niigatashi Suizokukan Marinpianihonkai新潟市水族館マリンピア日本海

An aquarium run by Niigata City that introduces the creatures living in Niigata's sea and rivers. It is made up of several zones themed on the Sea of Japan and the Shinano River, including the Dolphin Stadium, known for its popular dolphin shows, Penguin Coast, where you can observe penguin behavior, and Marine Safari – Pinniped Cove, which exhibits seals and other marine mammals.

From bay 9 of the JR Niigata Station bus terminal, take Route C22 (Hamaura-cho Line) bound for Suizokukan-mae to the last stop, about 25 minutes (fare: adults ¥260, children ¥130).

From bay 9 of the JR Niigata Station bus terminal, take Route C22 (Hamaura-cho Line) bound for Suizokukan-mae to the last stop, about 25 minutes (fare: adults ¥260, children ¥130). By taxi, about 15 minutes from JR Niigata Station, about 10 minutes from JR Hakusan Station, or about 20 minutes from Niigata Airport. Source

Are dolphin shows held every day? What about rainy days?
Shows are held every day, year-round, regardless of the weather. From spring through fall they take place at the outdoor Dolphin Stadium, and in winter in the indoor pool. Source
Is there parking?
Free parking is available (dedicated lot for 670 cars, plus bus parking for 8 large buses). When the dedicated lot is full, visitors are directed to an overflow lot. Source
Are there coin lockers?
Small lockers for hand luggage are ¥100 per use; medium lockers, one size larger, are ¥200 per use. Source
