Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding成都大熊猫繁育研究基地

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a non-profit conservation and breeding facility founded in 1987 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, starting from six rescued giant pandas. It focuses on protecting and captive-breeding giant pandas, red pandas, and other endangered animals endemic to China, and by 2008 it had recorded 124 panda births and a captive population of 83. Through partnerships with leading institutions such as the San Diego Zoo, Edinburgh Zoo, and zoos in Japan, it is internationally recognized as a hub for giant panda conservation research.
