Columbus Zoo and AquariumColumbus Zoo and Aquarium

Opened in 1927 in Powell, Ohio, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium combines a zoo and aquarium across roughly 580 acres, home to more than 10,000 animals of over 800 species arranged in themed regions such as Heart of Africa and Asia Quest. It is the birthplace of Colo, the first gorilla born in human care, and was built into one of America's most popular zoos by Jack Hanna, its director from 1978 to 1993 and a familiar television personality.
