It houses roughly 8,000 animals of around 850 species across six themed worlds, including the indoor tropical rainforest hall Gondwanaland (opened 2010) and the great-ape facility Pongoland (opened 2001). English Wikipedia describes it as the best-ranked zoo in Germany.
